'U+5G Gallery' Successfully Concludes... 130,000 Experiences Over 6 Months
If You Shine the App on Wall or Screen Door Artwork
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus operated the 5G-based cultural and artistic space 'U+5G Gallery' at Gongdeok Station in Seoul, providing more than 130,000 opportunities to experience 5G services over six months.
On the 8th, LG Uplus announced that it successfully concluded the U+5G Gallery, which had been operated at Gongdeok Station on Seoul Subway Line 6 from September last year to February this year, in collaboration with Google and Seoul Metro.
The U+5G Gallery allows customers visiting Gongdeok Station to view artworks installed on walls, pillars, and screen doors through the 'U+AR' application, making the artworks vividly move on their smartphone screens. When pointing at a ballerina painting, the ballerina dances in the U+AR app, which users can freely zoom in on and rotate 360 degrees to enjoy. LTE users and subscribers of other companies can also view the artworks using Google Lens.
A survey of visitors showed a positive improvement in awareness of AR technology using the 5G network. Overseas telecom companies from the US, China, Japan, Europe, and 18 famous ICT companies and institutions at home and abroad visited for benchmarking, and partnership inquiries continued. During the exhibition, invitations to exhibit were received from Starfield Hanam and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Additionally, the U+5G Gallery won two awards at the '2019 Korea Advertising Awards.'
