Ministry of Foreign Affairs Raises Travel Advisory to 'Avoid Travel' for All Regions in Japan: "Considering Uncertain Infection Situation and Vulnerable Response"
Effective from the 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 7th that it has raised the travel alert for all regions of Japan, effective from the 9th, from Level 1 (Blue Alert), indicating travel caution, to Level 2 (Yellow Alert), indicating travel restraint.
The area within a 30km radius of the Fukushima nuclear power plant and the evacuation order zones designated by the Japanese government are already under Level 3 (Red Alert), which advises evacuation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that this upgrade in the travel alert is a measure taken considering the recent unclear infection situation in Japan and the vulnerable response, which has raised several questions from the international community, as well as the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), increasing concerns about the exposure of our citizens to infection risks.
