Seongnam Bundang Jesaeng Hospital 8 Confirmed Cases... Lee Jae-myung Urges "Avoid Multi-use Facilities"
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, urged residents to refrain from using crowded facilities, saying he would "examine more thoroughly" after eight people, including medical staff and patients, tested positive for "COVID-19" at Bundang Jesaeng Hospital in Seongnam.
On the 6th, Governor Lee posted on Facebook, "Eight COVID-19 confirmed cases have occurred at Bundang Jesaeng Hospital," adding, "They include three patients, two nurses, and three nursing assistants, and currently, hospital medical services have been suspended."
He also stated, "We are collecting specimens and conducting tests on all patients, including medical staff who had close contact with patients in the affected ward," and added, "We will inform you of the epidemiological investigation results as soon as they are available."
Furthermore, he said, "This is the first time in Gyeonggi Province that a large-scale outbreak of confirmed cases has occurred in a hospital or other group facility," and urged, "Please avoid using multi-use facilities as much as possible to prevent infection."
In particular, he promised, "We will raise awareness further and do our best to take necessary measures," and "We will examine more meticulously to ensure that even minor risk factors are not overlooked."
Earlier, Bundang Jesaeng Hospital in Seongnam suspended outpatient treatment and emergency room operations starting at 12:30 a.m. on the 6th after eight medical staff and patients tested positive for COVID-19.
