Gachon University Delays Semester Start by Additional 2 Weeks... Until March 30
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gachon University has postponed the start of the semester from the 16th to the 30th of this month due to the impact of COVID-19. Accordingly, the semester start is delayed by a total of 4 weeks, and the end of the semester is also postponed from June 19 to July 10.
Additionally, due to the delay in the semester end, the summer seasonal semester, originally scheduled to operate for 3 weeks from June 22 to July 10, will now be held for 2 weeks from July 13 to 24.
Gachon University is also conducting thorough management of Chinese international students.
The number of Chinese international students at Gachon University totals 965, including 397 undergraduates, 400 graduate students, 93 Korean language training course students, and 75 exchange students. Among them, 209 students have entered the country, and 112 have not yet departed.
Twenty Chinese international students who entered during the concentrated entry period from the 27th of last month to the 1st of this month were quarantined in a dormitory dedicated to international students using a dedicated bus from Incheon Airport.
The 189 students who entered earlier have completed the 2-week self-quarantine period, and the 644 students who have not yet entered are advised to enter after March 13 due to the semester delay. Students entering will be quarantined in the dormitory for 2 weeks, tested, and then allowed to participate in classes.
Along with this, Gachon University plans to conduct daily one-on-one phone consultations and checks based on self-quarantine checklists (health status records) for about 1,500 students, including domestic students residing in dormitories, students residing in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and overseas Korean students living in China, to ensure they can participate in classes.
