Incheon City Inspects 90 Large Construction Sites to Prevent Poor Workmanship and Safety Accidents
Inspection of Compliance with COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines and Implementation of Dust Reduction Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 4th that it will conduct a total of 125 inspections and evaluations throughout the year targeting 90 large-scale construction sites within the region.
The inspection targets include 72 large-scale construction sites with a total construction cost of 2 billion KRW or more, commissioned and constructed by the city and its affiliated organizations, and 18 private construction sites permitted by Incheon City.
The city will form a joint inspection team consisting of construction technology review committee members to evaluate and inspect a total of 125 cases, including 13 design service evaluations, 16 construction project management service evaluations, 8 construction evaluations, 70 quality control appropriateness confirmations, and 18 on-site inspections, aiming to prevent poor construction and construction accidents.
In particular, the team will focus on checking compliance with preventive measures such as mask distribution and hand sanitizer placement by assessing the damage status caused by COVID-19.
Additionally, the implementation status of dust reduction measures at large construction sites will be inspected, and mandatory measures to reduce fine dust, such as restricting the operation of old construction machinery and prohibiting dust-generating processes during public sector construction (with voluntary participation encouraged in the private sector), will be enforced simultaneously.
The inspection team will take measures to correct or supplement minor issues on-site through inspections, impose penalty points according to the degree of poor construction along with repairs and reinforcements for defective construction sites, and plan to commend outstanding sites at the end of the year.
The city inspects the management status of large construction sites twice a year. Last year, it inspected 30 sites in the first half and 18 sites in the second half, carrying out 431 corrective actions and technical consultations.
