Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital Staff Lead Blood Donation 'Life Sharing Practice'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Staff at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital took the lead in practicing ‘life-sharing’ through blood donation.
According to Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital on the 4th, the day before, they carried out a ‘Love Blood Donation Campaign’ together with the Korean Red Cross Gwangju·Jeonnam Blood Center, with about 20 employees participating in the blood donation.
Jo Yeongyu, head of the General Affairs Department, was the first to board the blood donation bus, saying, “It is unfortunate that many people avoid blood donation due to the spread of COVID-19, and as a result, the blood supply situation is worsening day by day.” He added, “Personally, this is my 14th blood donation, and it holds special meaning. I hope that the anxiety about blood donation will be resolved and that the participation atmosphere will be recreated,” as he rolled up his sleeves.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s social work team actively conducted the campaign by guiding blood donation participants among hospital visitors and distributing souvenirs together with volunteers.
Moon Byunghan, team leader of the Gwangju·Jeonnam Blood Center, said, “Institutions are supposed to maintain at least five days’ worth of blood supply, but currently, it is only about 2.7 days, which is an emergency situation.” He added, “Thanks to the hospital staff taking the lead and encouraging blood donation, more people participated this year than in other years despite the COVID-19 situation.”
