Sang-ik Lee, Hampyeong County Governor Preliminary Candidate, "Will Provide Customized Support for Returning to Farming and Rural Settlement Policies"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Sang-ik, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the by-election of Hampyeong County Governor in Jeollanam-do, announced on the 3rd, “We will separate the return-to-farming policy and the return-to-village policy to provide customized support.”
The candidate explained, “Most local governments handle return-to-farming and return-to-village under one department and conduct consultations in one place. In reality, the thoughts of those considering return-to-farming and those considering return-to-village differ, and the areas that need administrative support and care are distinctly different.”
He also expressed his position on return-to-farming and return-to-village policies, which will greatly contribute to preventing population decline in Hampyeong and revitalizing the local economy.
The candidate stated, “Returnees to farming should be subdivided into whether they intend to engage in farming or work in livestock or fisheries, and they should learn the basic knowledge and skills as farmers through senior returnees or the Agricultural Technology Center. Also, whether they returned to the village for self-employment or for rural living should be subdivided, and administration needs to provide one-on-one customized support accordingly.”
