[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] According to the 21st general election district delimitation plan submitted by the National Assembly Electoral District Delimitation Committee under the Central Election Commission on the 3rd, Suncheon, whose population exceeded the upper limit, was divided into Gap and Eul electoral districts to hold elections, while other areas in Jeonnam were adjusted.
Jang Man-chae, the preliminary candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea (Suncheon) National Assembly member, welcomed the increase of Suncheon’s electoral districts to two, Gap and Eul, after a long struggle on the 4th, and stated that it was a well-made decision for the long-term development of Suncheon.
Candidate Jang said, “Despite the era of population cliff, it is very fortunate that Suncheon’s population has steadily increased enough to exceed the upper limit of the number of voters for National Assembly elections,” and added, “I deeply thank the citizens of Suncheon who have sincerely worked in their respective positions so that we can embrace hope for future regional development along with population growth, which is the driving force of the local economy.”
He continued, “One of the foundations of regional development is the local budget, and it is desirable that two members of the National Assembly can carefully examine the issues of each electoral district rather than one member,” and appealed, “No matter who is elected as a National Assembly member, we will achieve Suncheon’s development through coexistence and cooperation, and I hope that this election will be a time to unite our Democratic Party.”
