Lee Jae-myung: "Going to Gapyeong to Enforce Mandatory Testing on Shincheonji's Lee Man-hee"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, departed for Gapyeong at around 7:20 PM on the 2nd to personally oversee the forced testing of Lee Man-hee, the Chairman of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, who refused to undergo testing for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
About an hour before leaving the site, Governor Lee expressed his frustration on his Facebook, stating, "According to the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, the epidemiological investigator's assessment of the need for testing was communicated before the press conference, and the head of the Gapyeong County Health Center requested the test according to the law, but after the press conference, he just went inside."
He particularly warned, "We have continuously requested testing, but he has refused so far, so I think I must go there myself to direct the execution of the test. Mr. Lee Man-hee said at the press conference a moment ago that he takes responsibility, but if he refuses even the legally mandated test, he should remember that the truthfulness of that conference could be questioned."
