The head of Shincheonji's Overseas Mission Department said at a press conference held at the Shincheonji Peace Palace in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, on the afternoon of the 2nd, "Among those from the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area who visited (Cheongdo) Daenam Hospital, those who tested positive for COVID-19 were attendees of the Daegu church worship service," adding, "Rather than judging that the virus spread at Daenam Hospital, it is understood that the virus spread at the Daegu church."

According to Shincheonji, a total of 52 Shincheonji believers visited Daenam Hospital, with 6 testing positive, 5 negative, and 29 asymptomatic in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area. Believers from other regions included 5 negative and 7 asymptomatic cases. The official said, "everything will be thoroughly investigated by the quarantine authorities."
