Caught Producing 10,000 Defective Masks in a Motel Workshop
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] A group that set up a workshop in a motel and produced counterfeit medical masks was caught by the police.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit announced on the 2nd that they have arrested and are investigating two individuals, including A (in his 40s), on charges of manufacturing and selling about 10,000 substandard medical masks without certification.
They are suspected of setting up a workshop in a motel in Busan from the end of February and producing about 10,000 substandard medical masks using fabric received from an unidentified company.
It was investigated that they sold the masks to an unspecified number of people through the internet and other means at 3,500 won per mask.
The police raided the manufacturing site, arrested them in the act, and seized 4,200 substandard masks.

The police are conducting further investigations, have applied for arrest warrants for them, and are tracking the purchase routes of the mask fabric.
