Preliminary Candidate Lee Gang-rae: "Direct Government Support Needed for Soil Improvement Projects"
"Will Secure Government Support to Improve Farm Income"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Gang-rae, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Namwon, Sunchang, and Imsil in Jeonbuk, announced on the 2nd that as part of tailored policies, he will "secure government support for soil improvement (gaekto) projects suitable for our agricultural region."
Candidate Lee stated, "Our region underwent land consolidation 30 to 50 years ago, resulting in soil acidification, making eco-friendly and organic farming difficult. Since the 1990s, when rice self-sufficiency was achieved, government support for soil improvement projects has been discontinued, and only some small-scale initiatives are being carried out in certain cities and counties."
