KOSPI Falls to 1970 Level... KOSDAQ Also Shows Weakness
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] On the 2nd, the KOSPI opened higher at the 1990 level but failed to maintain momentum and fell to the 1970 level.
As of 9:30 a.m. that day, the KOSPI recorded 1975.16, down 11.85 points (0.60%) from the previous session.
The KOSPI opened at 1997.03, up 10.02 points (0.50%) from the previous trading day, and seemed to maintain an upward trend but dropped to the 1970 level during the session.
In the securities market, individuals and institutions net bought 118.4 billion KRW and 49.6 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners net sold 174.6 billion KRW.
By sector, Paper & Wood (0.76%), Chemicals (0.28%), and Food & Beverages (0.33%) declined, while Textiles & Apparel (0.12%) and Medical Precision (0.73%) rose.
Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, only SK Hynix (1.25%) showed an upward trend. Samsung Electronics (0.92%), Samsung Biologics (0.54%), NAVER (0.57%), and LG Chem (0.82%) were down.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 608.53, down 2.20 points (0.36%) from the previous session.
The KOSDAQ opened at 617.88, up 7.15 points (1.17%) from the previous session, but gradually lost strength.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals and institutions net bought 1.1 billion KRW and 7.1 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners net sold 6.6 billion KRW.
By sector, Internet (1.56%), Semiconductors (1.14%), and Textiles & Apparel (1.48%) rose, while Metals (0.32%) and Entertainment & Culture (0.28%) declined.

Among the top market capitalization stocks in the KOSDAQ market, Celltrion Healthcare (1.08%) and KMV (1.23%) declined. On the other hand, Pearl Abyss (0.73%), Medytox (2.21%), and Hugel (3.17%) rose.
