Songpa-gu, Thorough COVID-19 Prevention Measures
Disaster Management Fund of 500 Million Won Allocated for Disinfection and Supplies Support... Saemaeul Groups and Autonomous Disaster Prevention Teams Also Join Disinfection Efforts
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is making every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and is strengthening quarantine measures throughout the district.
With the recent escalation of the crisis level to 'severe,' the district has temporarily suspended the operation of about 800 multi-use facilities, including community centers, sports and cultural centers, welfare centers, youth centers, senior citizen centers, and libraries, excluding the district office and local community service centers, until the end of March.
Currently, the focus is on blocking mass contact, conducting quarantine throughout the district, and mobilizing all resources to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In addition, the district has allocated 500 million won from the disaster management fund for emergency response to the prolonged situation. Through this, continuous disinfection is carried out at public facilities and places closely related to residents' daily lives, and quarantine supplies such as thermal imaging cameras, masks, and hand sanitizers are provided.
Recently, additional disinfection was conducted at local community service centers and community halls that had been previously disinfected. Disinfection was also carried out at six traditional markets and the Rodeo Street shopping district in Munjeong-dong, where 5,210 masks and 357 hand sanitizers were distributed to merchants and residents.
Furthermore, the district previously supplied 60,000 masks and 600 hand sanitizers to all 170 senior citizen centers in the area and conducted internal disinfection of these centers over five days starting from the 24th of last month. Through professional disinfection companies, the district ensured that elderly people, who are vulnerable to infection, can safely use the facilities when they reopen.
Additionally, the district announced that joint disinfection efforts involving private organizations continue. The district supports compressed sprayers and disinfectants, and Saemaeul organizations and autonomous disaster prevention groups in each neighborhood participate in disinfecting places with high foot traffic such as parks, bus stops, and subway stations.
The district plans to monitor the COVID-19 situation and allocate additional disaster management funds to continue disinfection and support for quarantine supplies.
