Gwanak Social Economy Network Rolls Up Sleeves to Help Neighbors in Need...Voluntary Disinfection Volunteer Work for Multi-use Facilities and Vulnerable Groups in the Community
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) announced that the efforts of (preliminary) social enterprises to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community are continuing.
The Gwanak Social Enterprise Network has been voluntarily conducting disinfection volunteer work since the 21st of last month at multi-use facilities in the area, including coworking spaces, Saesup Library, Gwanak Senior Club, Samsung-dong Neighbour Love Room, and Silver Love Room.
Led by local (preliminary) social enterprises such as the eco-friendly disinfectant manufacturer ‘EM Green’ and ‘Ilteo Interior,’ which carries out residential environment improvement projects, five (preliminary) social enterprises participated together to provide disinfection services using their supplies and technology.
The director of Gwanak Senior Club, which received the disinfection service, expressed gratitude, saying, "This is a place used daily by 40 to 50 elderly people, so above all, it is reassuring to be able to alleviate their anxiety."
Additionally, voluntary disinfection volunteer work is scheduled in early March at facilities for vulnerable groups such as alternative schools and Gwanak Social Welfare Center in the area.
The volunteers from the (preliminary) social enterprises conducting the disinfection service promised to continue steady volunteer activities until the COVID-19 situation is resolved, stating that it is natural to stand with neighbors in need during difficult times.
The Gwanak Social Enterprise Network is a community of 13 social enterprises in the area that strives to support neighbors in need through activities such as annual briquette sharing events.
