"42 Shincheonji Followers Moved from Wuhan to Korea in Past 8 Months"…Ministry of Justice's Preliminary Findings
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] It has been confirmed that 42 members of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus (Shincheonji) entered South Korea from Wuhan, China, known as the starting point of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), within the past eight months.
The Ministry of Justice announced on the 29th that it had notified the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) of the entry and exit records from July 1 of last year to the 27th of this year for 244,743 Shincheonji members. The KDCA requested the Ministry of Justice to check the entry and exit records the day before, and the Ministry of Justice confirmed and delivered the records.
As a result of the confirmation, out of the total members, 3,610 entered South Korea from China, among whom 42 came from Wuhan. Among the 211,462 domestic members, 3,572 were recorded as having entered South Korea from China. Of these, 41 members had records of entering from Wuhan. One other member was identified among 38 people who had records of entering South Korea from China out of 33,281 overseas members.

The Ministry of Justice added that the Shincheonji member list used for the analysis includes many cases where resident registration numbers were not specified. Therefore, the Ministry of Justice explained that the number of people may change in the future during additional verification processes due to reasons such as duplicate names.
