First COVID-19 Case Confirmed at Hyundai Motor... Ulsan Plant 2 Operations Halted, Disinfection Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] An employee working at Hyundai Motor Company's Ulsan plant has been confirmed as a positive case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). As a result, Ulsan Plant 2 is currently shut down.
A Hyundai Motor official stated on the 28th, "An employee working at the painting plant of Ulsan Plant 2 has tested positive." The worker is known to be a 53-year-old male.
Ulsan Plant 2 is a production line for popular models such as the GV80, Palisade, Santa Fe, and Tucson. This positive case marks the 13th confirmed COVID-19 infection in the Ulsan area.
This is the first time an employee at Hyundai Motor's Ulsan plant has tested positive for the coronavirus. The confirmed case visited the screening clinic at Ulsan Hospital at 7 p.m. the previous day and received the positive diagnosis the following morning.
Hyundai Motor is taking measures in response. A company official said, "Currently, Ulsan Plant 2 is shut down, and we are conducting thorough disinfection of the confirmed employee's workplace and movement paths."
