This is interpreted as a result of symptomatic individuals among the Shincheonji Church of Jesus Daegu congregation, where a cluster infection occurred, gradually being confirmed positive.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for COVID-19, as of 4 p.m. on the 27th, the number of confirmed cases in Daegu increased by 115 compared to 9 a.m. that day. From 4 p.m. the previous day to overnight, 307 cases were added, totaling 422 new cases in the past 24 hours. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Daegu is 1,132. As of that afternoon, 64.1% of the total 1,766 confirmed cases nationwide were patients from this region.
As diagnostic testing focused on the Shincheonji Daegu Church congregation, the number of confirmed cases in Daegu also increased significantly in one day. According to the Shincheonji Daegu Church, out of approximately 9,200 members, 1,848 had completed COVID-19 testing by 8 p.m. the previous day. Testing was conducted starting with those who reported symptoms of COVID-19. Among them, 833 tested positive and 183 tested negative. The confirmed cases began to be reflected in the statistics after being reported to the quarantine authorities.
Jung Eun-kyung, Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, "Testing of Shincheonji Daegu Church members has not yet been completed, so the daily (confirmed case) statistics are expected to continue increasing."

Meanwhile, Gyeongsangbuk-do, where a cluster infection centered around Cheongdo Daenam Hospital occurred, saw an increase of 24 confirmed cases compared to 9 a.m. that day. The cumulative number of patients in this region is 345, making it the second highest after Daegu.
