Prince Harry Leaving the British Royal Family: "Just Call Me Harry"
Revealed during official duties at an event in Scotland
Royal duties to be performed only until the end of March
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Prince Harry, who declared independence from the British royal family, has become a topic of conversation after saying "Just call me Harry" during his official visit to Scotland.
According to the Associated Press on the 26th (local time), Prince Harry attended the 'Travelist' event held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Scotland to deliver a speech.
Travelist is an eco-friendly travel initiative launched jointly by travel industry leaders such as Booking.com, TripAdvisor, and Visa, focusing on reducing carbon emissions from travel, preventing overtourism, and promoting local economic development.
At the event, the organizers introduced Prince Harry by saying, "He wants us to simply call him 'Harry,'" and added, "Ladies and gentlemen, let's warmly welcome Harry in the Scottish way."
In his speech, Prince Harry stated, "The development of the global tourism industry has put beautiful places at risk of destruction," and emphasized, "The tourism and travel sectors must unite to develop a sustainable future." He continued, "Travel is the essence of human experience, a connection of cultures, and new friendships," adding, "We must also work hard to address the problems caused by the increase in visitors."
This event is one of the royal duties representing Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Harry and his wife will perform royal duties only until March 31. After that, they will have a transition period of one year to settle their relationship with the British royal family and will lead only the nonprofit organization they plan to announce this spring.

The couple's expected use of the 'Royal' title has become difficult. Buckingham Palace stated in an official statement, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not use 'Sussex Royal' anywhere after this spring." As a result, their plan to register 'Sussex Royal' as a global trademark to resolve financial issues has been disrupted.
