Chonnam National University Hospital Mobilizes All Staff to Prevent COVID-19
At Main Entrances of Buildings 1, 3, 6, and 7... Guidance on Recording Fever Status and Travel History
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Lee Samyong) has mobilized all staff to emergency duty to strengthen access control, including visitor questionnaire completion, to prevent the influx of COVID-19 into the hospital.
Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 27th that, in response to the occurrence of regional COVID-19 infections and the elevation of the alert level to 'serious,' it has implemented a more strengthened infection prevention measure inside the hospital by requiring all visitors, including outpatients, to complete a questionnaire regarding personal information and fever status at the main entrances of four wards (Building 1, 3, 6, and 7) starting from the 25th.
To this end, about 380 employees, excluding medical staff, have been divided into eight teams to control access from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and executives at the team leader level and above, as well as nursing officers, have been assigned in rotation to patrol all wards and monitor the control situation in an emergency duty system.
In particular, eight personnel are assigned to Building 1, where visitor access is most frequent; four to Building 7; and two each to Buildings 3 and 6, controlling access in shifts of two hours and thirty minutes.
Staff wear masks, protective suits, and vinyl gloves while guiding visitors to complete the questionnaire, and after completion, hospital staff attach stickers to visitors so that questionnaire completion can be easily verified anywhere.
If any patient shows symptoms of fever or pneumonia during the questionnaire process, the infection control office is immediately contacted to guide the patient to the screening clinic or to take measures such as access control and postponement of visits.
The questionnaire includes fields for name, contact information, purpose of visit, fever status, pneumonia disease status, and travel history, with all items except name and contact information designed for quick and easy checking using O/X marks.
In case someone passes through the entrance without responding to the questionnaire, the outpatient departments verify again with patients and visitors waiting there whether they have completed the questionnaire.
