Gyeonggi-do Launches Full Survey of Shincheonji Gwacheon Worship Attendees on the 26th
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province began a full-scale investigation into the 'Novel Coronavirus Infection' (COVID-19) starting from the 26th, targeting 9,930 Shincheonji Church of Jesus headquarters worshippers who attended the service in Gwacheon on the 16th.
This measure was taken due to confirmed COVID-19 cases among worshippers residing in Seocho, Seoul, and Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, as well as one spouse (from Anyang City) testing positive, raising concerns about community spread.
An official from the province stated, "On the 25th, we received a list of about 40,000 Shincheonji members with ties to Gyeonggi Province from the Shincheonji side. Among them, we have started a full investigation today, including phone interviews, targeting those who attended the Gwacheon Shincheonji service where confirmed cases have already been identified."
The list provided by Shincheonji includes 33,582 members residing in the province and 9,930 attendees of the Gwacheon Shincheonji service on the 16th.
Through the full investigation, the province plans to verify whether the members actually attended the Gwacheon service, check their health status, and classify those with unclear whereabouts or abnormal symptoms for prompt isolation and diagnostic testing.
The full investigation will be conducted directly by the province without assistance from city or county local governments or regional health centers.
Considering the urgency of preventing further spread, the investigation will first focus on the high-risk group of attendees at the Gwacheon Shincheonji service on the 16th, followed by the remaining Shincheonji members with ties to Gyeonggi Province.
