Sejong Supports Early Retirement of Old Diesel Vehicles and More
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City is implementing a program to support early retirement of old diesel vehicles, purchase of new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cargo trucks, and installation of diesel particulate filters (DPF) to reduce exhaust emissions.
According to the city on the 26th, the early retirement program for old diesel vehicles provides support including new vehicle purchase costs, with up to 3 million KRW for vehicles under 3.5 tons, and up to 30 million KRW for vehicles over 3.5 tons and three types of construction machinery.
Additionally, if a diesel vehicle meeting the early retirement criteria is scrapped and an LPG cargo truck is purchased, a fixed amount of 4 million KRW per vehicle will be supported for up to five vehicles.
The support targets are diesel vehicles classified as emission grade 5 or road-use construction machinery of three types that meet emission standards applied before 2005.
Separately, the city is also running a DPF support program for diesel vehicles. For vehicles that do not wish to retire early, installation costs will be supported up to 90% depending on the type of reduction device. The support target is diesel vehicles classified as emission grade 5.
Whether a vehicle falls under emission grade 5 can be checked through the Ministry of Environment call center or the vehicle emission grade system website. However, even vehicles classified as emission grade 5 are eligible for support only if they are registered in Sejong as of the announcement date and the final owner has held ownership for more than six months.
On-site support applications will be conducted from the 16th to the 20th of next month to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and postal applications will be accepted until the 20th of next month.
