Candidate Kim Seong-chan Suspends In-Person Campaigning Amid COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Seongchan, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the by-election of Hampyeong County Governor in Jeonnam, announced on the 26th that he will suspend face-to-face election campaigns due to the spread of 'COVID-19'.
This measure comes as the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases is increasing exponentially and the infectious disease crisis alert has been raised to the 'serious' level, escalating into a national crisis situation.
Accordingly, Candidate Kim plans to switch to an online-centered election campaign for the time being.
He also requested other preliminary candidates to suspend face-to-face election campaigns.
Candidate Kim said, "I propose to immediately suspend face-to-face election campaigns for active quarantine from now on," and added, "I believe they will respond actively."
