Hong Nam-ki Holds Remote Meeting in Saudi Arabia on COVID-19 Response... "Prompt Support for Approved Budget and Contingency Funds"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki said on the 23rd regarding the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), "Take maximum measures to ensure that the established budget and contingency funds related to quarantine support are promptly and sufficiently provided as soon as the need arises."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong made this statement during an emergency conference call held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he attended the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting.
Hong Nam-ki said, "The spread of COVID-19 and the quarantine situation are severe," and instructed, "All Ministry of Economy and Finance staff must respond to COVID-19 with much higher vigilance and full effort."
He also urged, "Complete the comprehensive package measures being prepared to support damage recovery, minimize ripple effects, and back up the economy as quickly as possible."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong emphasized, "In addition to nationwide quarantine efforts, please pay special attention to disinfecting Ministry offices and individual efforts by employees, and strictly adhere to internal behavioral guidelines."
