Jeju and Cheongju COVID-19 Confirmed Patients' Personal Information Spreads Online... "Tracing the Leak Source"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Personal information of COVID-19 confirmed cases from Jeju and Cheongju has been leaked externally, causing controversy.
According to Cheongju City on the 22nd, photos of documents titled 'Individual Movement Paths of Contacts' and 'Shared Movement Paths of Contacts' have been widely spread through social network services (SNS) such as group KakaoTalk chats and internet cafes among residents in the Cheongju area.
This occurred before Chungcheongbuk-do publicly disclosed the personal information and movement paths of the couple in the afternoon of the same day. The document contains personal information including the names, ages, and occupations of the confirmed couple, as well as their parents and son.
It is presumed that a city hall official took and leaked the document, which was a confidential material from a countermeasure meeting chaired by Cheongju Mayor Han Beomdeok that morning.
Information about the Jeju confirmed case is also spreading on SNS. It is a photo of a document titled 'Seogwipo-si Confirmed Patient (000) Movement Route.' This document was an internal local government file containing the movement route from the 16th to the 21st of the second confirmed case, an employee of WE Hotel in Seogwipo-si.
