WHO "Korea Can Manage COVID-19 Situation"
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The World Health Organization (WHO) has assessed that South Korea can manage the rapid increase in confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 20th (local time), WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, "Although South Korea has reported 104 confirmed cases so far, I believe it is manageable."
He added, "I hope South Korea will do everything possible to suppress the outbreak at an early stage."
Oliver Morgan, WHO Director of Health Emergency Information and Risk Assessment, also mentioned that South Korea's outbreak cases originated from several individual clusters, stating, "The numbers seem quite large, but most are related to previously known outbreaks."
He emphasized, "South Korean authorities are tracking all new confirmed cases and the outbreaks they have identified very closely and rigorously."

Director Morgan noted that new confirmed cases in China are on a declining trend, saying, "While encouraged by this trend, it is not the time to become complacent."
