"Asan Side Dish Shop Has No Malice... It's Regrettable," President Moon; Jin Joong-kwon: "You Don't Stop It Until the End"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Su-wan] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon recently criticized President Moon Jae-in's remark that it is "regrettable that the merchant is being attacked" regarding a traditional market vendor in Asan, Chungnam, who has been targeted by supporters of President Moon. Jin pointed out, "He doesn't try to stop it until the end."
On the 19th, Jin posted on his Facebook, saying, "From now on, don't wander around the market for no reason. Only innocent people get insulted," expressing his concern.
Earlier, on the 9th, President Moon visited a traditional market in Asan, Chungnam, and met with market vendors. He asked a vendor at a side dish store, "How is business?" The vendor replied, "It's terrible. Business is really bad," a scene that was revealed through a broadcasting company's YouTube channel.
After the broadcast aired, supporters of President Moon reportedly exposed the vendor's phone number and posted malicious comments, attacking the vendor.
Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok stated at a briefing on the 19th, "President Moon asked to stand up for the traditional market vendor who is being slandered," and added, "The atmosphere at the time was actually good."
According to spokesperson Kang, regarding the vendor's expression that business was "terrible," President Moon said, "It's a common expression people use these days to describe poor business," and "It's rather a down-to-earth and candid expression." Kang further explained, "He said it is 'regrettable' that the person is being attacked."
