Renault Samsung Expands Busan Cheongchun Dream Car Project Support to 130 Beneficiaries
[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 13th that it will expand support for the 'Busan Youth Dream Car Project,' which is being implemented together with Busan City. The number of beneficiaries, which was 100 people annually, will be increased by 30 this year to provide electric cars SM3 Z.E. to 130 young employees.
The 'Busan Youth Dream Car Project' provides the electric car SM3 Z.E. for up to three years and supports rental fees for young people newly employed in the industrial complexes of the eastern and western Busan areas, where public transportation is weak. This project promotes youth employment in industrial complexes, prevents resignations, simultaneously solves the employment difficulties of local youth and the manpower shortage of small and medium-sized enterprises, and expands the spread of electric vehicles, achieving a 'triple-win' effect as a community contribution project.
Currently, 92% of the selected participants remain employed, greatly contributing to employment stabilization. According to a satisfaction survey conducted on the selected participants, 96% responded that the Youth Dream Car helps with maintaining employment. Thanks to this, many applicants apply every year, and inquiries and benchmarking from other local governments are continuing.
Park Na-kyung (23), who is receiving support from this project, said, "Thanks to the Youth Dream Car, my commuting time has been shortened, improving work efficiency and work-life balance. Also, since it is an electric car, fuel costs are low, and I am very satisfied thinking that it contributes to environmental protection."
Hwang Eun-young, Head of Communications at Renault Samsung, emphasized, "We hope that by expanding the number of beneficiaries, the project continuing into 2020 will help revitalize the Busan regional economy and alleviate youth employment difficulties. We will continue to make relentless efforts to develop together with the local community."
Meanwhile, the SM3 Z.E. is the only 5-seater compact sedan-type electric vehicle in Korea, featuring a spacious interior and sophisticated design. Renault Samsung is providing an additional special purchase subsidy of 6 million KRW to customers who purchase the SM3 Z.E. to ease the purchasing burden caused by the reduction of electric vehicle purchase subsidies by the Ministry of Environment.
