Gangnam-gu Accepts Applications for 'Multi-family Housing Smoke-Free Zones' Year-Round
If Over 50% of Household Heads Agree, Some or All of Hallways, Stairs, Elevators, and Underground Parking Lots Can Be Designated
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) designated Raemian Blestige in Gaepo-dong as a 'No-Smoking Apartment' on the 10th and is continuously accepting applications for 'No-Smoking Zones in Multi-family Housing.'
The application targets multi-family housing (apartments, row houses, multi-unit houses) under the Housing Act, and if more than 50% of household heads agree, all or part of corridors, stairs, elevators, and underground parking lots can be designated as no-smoking zones.
Multi-family housing designated as no-smoking zones will have plaques and guide signs posted, and after a three-month grace period from the announcement date, a fine of 50,000 KRW will be imposed if smoking is detected.
The district has designated and operates a total of 19 no-smoking zones in multi-family housing in accordance with the National Health Promotion Act.
