[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that a dedicated playground for companion animals under construction will open in June this year to alleviate social conflicts arising from the increase in pet owners and to promote a mature companion animal culture.
The dedicated playground for companion animals, which began construction last December in the Sangbok-dong area of Seongsan-gu, is scheduled to be completed in April this year and undergo a pilot operation.
It is the largest public playground for companion animals in the Yeongnam region, covering 4,702㎡, and is divided into various sections according to function, including a grass playground for small and medium-sized dogs, a playground for large dogs, a play equipment zone, and a resting area for dog owners.

Changwon City is currently promoting a national funding project worth 8 billion KRW to create a companion animal support center in the area, which will be a cultural complex space equipped with an education center, grooming and pet caf? facilities, and an abandoned animal adoption center.
