Replacement of Aging Water Pipes and Real-Time Monitoring to Provide Clean Tap Water
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Seo Young-seo] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that it will officially begin pipeline maintenance work after establishing a systematic plan for replacing aging water supply pipelines through field surveys and network analysis by opening the Gangjin-gun Waterworks Modernization Office in March 2018 in cooperation with Korea Water Resources Corporation.
This project involves a total budget of 19.3 billion KRW, including national funds, aiming to minimize leakage through maintenance of aging water supply pipelines and the establishment of blocks and maintenance management systems for systematic management of flow rates and water pressure by region.
The goal is to achieve a water service rate of 85% by 2022 and provide cleaner and more stable tap water to residents.
In particular, this year, with an investment of 10 billion KRW, pipeline maintenance work will be intensified mainly in the Gangjin-eup water supply area, where pipeline aging is severe.
