Chosun University Launches Training Program for 'Disaster Safety Experts'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University (President Min Youngdon) announced on the 10th that it has launched an educational program to train local 'disaster safety experts' and is working on talent development.
Recently, the demand for 'disaster safety experts' who professionally respond to disasters and safety accidents in the region has been increasing.
Accordingly, the Chosun University LINC+ Project Group recently collaborated with Professors Yu Gwanjong and Bae Seungyong of the Future Society Convergence College (Department of New Industry Convergence, majoring in Firefighting and Energy Systems) to establish the 'Disaster Safety Expert Training Course' educational program.
The 'Disaster Safety Expert Training Course' is an educational program designed to cultivate experts with the capability to prevent disasters and safety accidents in advance and to respond appropriately and immediately on-site in case of safety accidents and crisis situations.
The training is conducted by verified experts in the disaster safety field and includes ▲ disaster prevention and safety management ▲ engineering approaches to disasters ▲ disaster practice and on-site issues ▲ emergency first aid practice and training ▲ emergency response practice.
Participants who complete the course can obtain the 'Disaster Safety Instructor' certification.
The previous 'Disaster Safety Expert Training Course' was conducted in two phases by dividing the target participants.
The first phase of training was held from December 16 to 20 last year for 34 managerial-level employees of Gwangju Metropolitan City Urban Corporation, and the second phase, held from the 3rd to the 7th of this year, involved 24 undergraduate and graduate students from Chosun University.
In this Disaster Safety Expert Training Course, 54 out of 58 trainees (93.1%) obtained the Level 2 Disaster Safety Instructor certification.

A Chosun University official stated, "Local governments are encouraging educational institutions to establish disaster safety expert training courses," adding, "Through the operation of the 'Disaster Safety Expert Training Course,' we will proactively cultivate disaster safety experts who will play a key role in preventing and responding to disasters and safety accidents in the region."
