President Moon Appoints Professor Kim Yong-gi as Vice Chair of the Job Committee
Professor Sangjo Jeong of Seoul National University Appointed as Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 10th, President Moon Jae-in appointed Professor Kim Yong-gi of Ajou University’s School of International Studies as the Vice Chairman of the ministerial-level 'Presidential Committee on Jobs.' Professor Jung Sang-jo of Seoul National University Law School was appointed as the Chairman of the 'Presidential Committee on National Intellectual Property.'
Vice Chairman Kim graduated from Seoul Gyeonggi High School and Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Broadcasting and Communication, then earned a Ph.D. in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the UK. He previously worked as an economic reporter for Dong-A Ilbo and as a research specialist at Samsung Economic Research Institute’s Economic Policy Office. He has served as a non-standing director at the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation and as a member of the Presidential Policy Planning Committee.
Chairman Jung graduated from Seoul Boseong High School and Seoul National University’s Department of Law, then earned a Ph.D. in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has served as dean of Seoul National University College of Law and as a member of the National Intellectual Property Committee. Currently, he is a professor at Seoul National University Law School and a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology.

Vice Chairman Kim plans to succeed Lee Mok-hee, the Vice Chairman of the Jobs Committee, who is preparing to run in the 21st general election for the Geumcheon District constituency in Seoul. The position of Vice Chairman of the Jobs Committee is exempt from Article 53 of the Public Official Election Act, which requires resignation 90 days before the general election.
