[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] Chinese Premier Li Keqiang held a phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and exchanged views regarding the novel coronavirus infection.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 10th, Premier Li held a phone conversation with Chancellor Merkel the previous night and exchanged views on China's efforts to control the novel coronavirus and measures to prevent its spread.
Premier Li informed Chancellor Merkel that the Chinese government is striving to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus in a scientific and effective manner according to the law, making every effort to treat infected patients and paying attention to the supply of medical equipment. He added, "The measures we have taken so far far exceed the requirements of the 'National Health Regulations' and the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO)," and expressed confidence that "the Chinese government and people have confidence in the fight against the novel coronavirus and have the ability to overcome it."
He continued, "We hope that the international community, including Germany, will maintain a rational attitude, support China's epidemic containment efforts, and maintain normal bilateral exchanges," and also requested that China be provided with necessary conveniences to procure needed medical equipment from Germany.
