EBS Initiates Dismissal Process for Hwang In-su, EBS Media CEO, Amid Allegations of Verbal Abuse and Power Abuse
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] EBS has decided to proceed with the dismissal process of Hwang In-su, CEO of EBS Media, who is suspected of abusing power over employees.
On the 7th, EBS stated, "We have determined that the CEO is unable to perform normal management duties, and therefore, we will submit a dismissal proposal to the EBS Media board of directors and decide on the dismissal of the CEO through a resolution at the shareholders' meeting."
They added, "We take the seriousness of the recent workplace harassment controversy very seriously and made this decision to demonstrate responsible conduct as a public broadcaster."

According to the EBS Media branch of the National Union of Mediaworkers (Media Union), CEO Hwang, who took office in July last year, allegedly engaged in verbal abuse, insults, and threats against about 30 EBS Media employees, constituting abuse of power. One employee reportedly suffered severe stress and depression, leading to an emergency hospitalization, but CEO Hwang rejected the sick leave request, which ultimately led the employee to attempt an extreme act.
