President Moon's Approval Rating Rises 3%p to 44%... Effective Response to COVID-19 [Gallup]
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his administration has shown a moderate increase in the Korea Gallup survey, following Realmeter's results.
Gallup announced on the 7th that in a public opinion survey conducted from the 4th to the 6th among 1,000 adults aged 18 and over, 44% of respondents gave a positive evaluation of President Moon's job performance. This is a 3 percentage point increase from the previous week. Negative evaluations decreased by 1 percentage point to 49%.
In particular, when respondents who positively evaluated President Moon's job performance were asked the reason, "response to the novel coronavirus" (24%) was the most frequently cited.
On the other hand, respondents who negatively evaluated his job performance cited "lack of resolution on economic and livelihood issues" (20%) followed by "insufficient response to the novel coronavirus" (13%) as reasons.
Since both positive and negative evaluations included the response to the novel coronavirus as a reason, this indicates a divided assessment of the government's handling of the situation.
