Practical Job Connections for Job Seekers, Talent Recruitment Opportunities for Companies: A Mutual Support System... Diverse Employment Support Programs Helping Youth Find Their Aptitudes and Desired Career Paths
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is opening the path to employment by enabling unemployed youth to receive professional vocational training and gain job experience, allowing them to work stably beyond simply creating public labor-type jobs.
This year, the district was again selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Community-led Youth Job Project’ and plans to connect jobs to 16 youth?6 more than last year?at 12 local companies (institutions).
The ‘Community-led Youth Job Project’ is a program that plans and provides various services needed by the local community as youth jobs. The district supports youth wages for companies and provides youth with work experience opportunities, thereby supporting economic activity and strengthening job competencies.
Youth are affiliated with public institutions such as social economy enterprises, comprehensive social welfare centers, and non-profit organizations, where they can build job skills in various fields including ▲education program planning ▲promotion and marketing ▲space planning and operation ▲festival planning, while simultaneously engaging in economic activities.
Applicants must be job-seeking youth aged 19 to 39 residing in Gwanak-gu. After reviewing the project details for each workplace considering their major and aptitude, they can apply in person at the Gwanak-gu Office Youth Policy Division by February 14.
Selected youth will work at the respective companies (institutions) from March to November this year, and depending on their work performance, opportunities for regular employment may also be available.
The ‘Community-led Youth Job Project’ is expected to be a fundamental solution to employment issues, as it offers job seekers not only the chance to experience desired jobs but also practical job connections, and provides companies and institutions facing recruitment difficulties with opportunities to hire desired talent, creating a mutually supportive structure.
In addition to direct job connection projects, various employment support programs are operated to help youth job seekers find their aptitudes and talents and pursue their desired career paths.
These include ▲the professional employment education program ‘Youth Employment and Start-up Academy’ ▲‘Youth Employment Support Special Lectures and Mentoring’ supporting employment at domestic promising companies and global firms ▲‘Youth Dream Gwanak Camp’ involving current Samsung Electronics employees ▲and the ‘Youth Employment Support Project with KB Good Job’ in partnership with KB Financial Public Welfare Foundation.
Furthermore, a local job cafe is operated to provide youth with free access to study rooms, and employment support services such as one-on-one employment consulting and job-specific mentoring are offered.
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “We will strive to create quality jobs so that youth job seekers can maintain stable professional lives with expertise, enabling all youth to continue economic activities with self-esteem as members of society.”
