[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Choi Min-cheol, Fire Service Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, was inaugurated as the 18th Chief of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Fire Safety Headquarters on the 6th.
Chief Choi, originally from Jeonju, Jeonbuk, passed the 44th Judicial Examination in 2002 and entered the fire service in 2005 through a career recruitment as a Fire Captain. He has served in various positions including the Fire Policy Division of the National Fire Agency, Chief of Cheorwon Fire Station in Gangwon, Director of the Comprehensive Situation Room at Gangwon Fire Headquarters, Principal of Gwangju Fire Academy, and Director of the 119 Life Safety Division at the National Fire Agency.
He has gained a reputation for possessing a balanced perspective and leadership based on fundamentals and principles by working in various key positions in central departments and frontline sites, and for leading horizontal organizational changes through communication and empathy within the organization.
Chief Choi stated, “The approximately 1,500 Gwangju fire officers will do their best to create a safe urban environment from disasters that citizens can empathize with.”
