Preliminary Candidate Shin Jeong-hoon Emphasizes Expansion of Vaccine Special Zone R&D Budget and More
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Shin Jeong-hoon, the Democratic Party of Korea preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Naju·Hwasun, Jeonnam, visited the Hwasun Vaccine Industry Special Zone on the 5th and declared that he would actively work to expand national funding support for the prevention and treatment of the novel coronavirus.
On that day, Shin Jeong-hoon visited the GC Green Cross Hwasun Plant and stated that he would steadily promote Hwasun’s biomedical hub, as promised by President Moon Jae-in at the Jeonnam Economy Declaration Ceremony last July.
Shin promised to complete early the national funding projects within the vaccine industry special zone to expand Hwasun’s vaccine and biopharmaceutical industry, including the Vaccine Global Industrialization Infrastructure Project (83.6 billion KRW), Large-scale Production Facility for Natural Medicine Raw Materials (20 billion KRW), Immune Cell Therapy Industrialization Technology Platform Construction (20 billion KRW), and National Vaccine Product Technology Support Center Construction (28.3 billion KRW).
In particular, he pledged to double the national research and development funding for the Hwasun Vaccine Industry Special Zone’s Biopharmaceutical Research Center and Chonnam National University Clinical Vaccine Development Center.

Additionally, he emphasized the government’s active support for establishing an infectious disease research ward in the vaccine special zone to build a medical infrastructure that enables faster response and management during infectious disease crises.
