GS Home Shopping Launches School Uniform Support Campaign for Low-Income Families
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Home Shopping announced on the 6th that it will donate 100 million KRW to provide school uniforms for students from low-income families and will carry out the ‘2020 School Uniform Support Project Happy Start’ in collaboration with Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International.
The ‘2020 School Uniform Support Project Happy Start’ is a program GS Home Shopping has participated in since 2008 to support low-income students preparing to advance to higher education, having assisted over 8,000 students in the past 12 years.
This school uniform support project targets households with middle income at or below 100%, including lower-income and near-poverty families, among middle and high school entrants in 2020 nationwide, providing 200,000 KRW per student to 375 middle and high school students.
Applications are being accepted online through Korea Food for the Hungry International’s Gidae Plus until the 7th of this month.
GS Home Shopping has been conducting various social contribution activities for children from low-income families. Since 2005, it has continuously operated the ‘Rainbow Box Project,’ an emotional support program that offers children who cannot fully enjoy cultural and educational benefits due to economic difficulties opportunities for special aptitude education and cultural experiences.
