[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) is making every effort to respond to infectious diseases to prevent the spread and infection within the region as the novel coronavirus infection rapidly spreads.
First, since the 4th, the district has organized six teams of Saemaeul autonomous disinfection squads in cooperation with the Saemaeul Leaders' Association to carry out autonomous disinfection work in the area.
The target areas include Hongdae Walking Street, Hongtong Street, Gyeongui Line Book Street, Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, Yonggang-dong Food Street, and traditional markets such as Gongdeok, Mangwon, World Cup, and Ahyeon Market.
These were selected as major disinfection areas, including popular tourist spots and traditional markets frequently visited by foreigners.
The disinfection is carried out using an eco-friendly fogging method, spraying a disinfectant solution called Dr. Solution diluted with water at a ratio of 200 to 1 through disinfection vehicles.
The autonomous disinfection squads plan to conduct disinfection activities twice a week and continue until the novel coronavirus infection situation ends. The district will actively support supplies such as disinfectants, hand sanitizers, and gloves for disinfection.
Also, since Mapo-gu is an area densely populated with foreign lodging facilities, inspections of tourist accommodations such as guesthouses are continuously being conducted.
Following the completion of the first on-site inspection of lodging facilities in the area on the 1st, the second inspection on the 4th checked 471 lodging facilities.
Through this on-site inspection, the district distributed banners with coronavirus prevention guidelines, spray-type disinfectants, and additional printed notices, repeatedly spreading prevention rules and related response measures for infection prevention.
The lodging facility inspection activities will continue once a week in two-person teams, including Mapo-gu office staff and visiting nurses, until the novel coronavirus infection situation ends.
In addition to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention call center 1339 and Dasan Call 120, a separate Mapo-gu Public Health Center call center (3153-9004~9007) has been established to ensure no disruption in residents' consultations and reporting responses.
