According to Jeollanam-do Office of Education on the 5th, a special countermeasure meeting to prevent the novel coronavirus infection was held in the 5th-floor situation room in the morning, chaired by Superintendent Jang Seok-woong, deciding to further strengthen the existing response system and focus all efforts on field-centered prevention.
In addition to the main office emergency response team led by Vice Superintendent Lee Ki-bong, the Office of Education will activate emergency systems at 22 city and county education support offices and each school and institution to conduct urgent disinfection and preemptively block infection risk factors.
For frontline schools, it was ordered to operate an all-out response system beyond the level of health teachers, at the disaster response level.
In particular, it is considered most important that students are not exposed to dangerous situations in educational settings, and the plan is to quickly assess risks mainly in practical training spaces of vocational high school students and take appropriate measures.
Along with this, an emergency budget of 390 million KRW for purchasing quarantine supplies such as masks and hand sanitizers was allocated, to be purchased collectively through city and county education support offices and actively stocked on site.
It was also reiterated to refrain as much as possible from gatherings where many people assemble, such as graduation ceremonies scheduled for this month at various schools, training during the intensive preparation period for the new academic year, and various field experience learning activities.
The registration location for the final successful candidates of the 2020 public school teacher appointment exam will be dispersed as much as possible to minimize contact. Additionally, various measures such as video conferences will be devised to prepare for any disruptions in the new semester next month.
Superintendent Jang Seok-woong said, “As the spread of the novel coronavirus does not stop, an extraordinary response is required in the educational field,” adding, “Each regional education support office should establish a field-centered response system and ensure real-time situation response based on accurate information.”
