'Saebosu Party's First Recruited Talent' Kim Woong: "I Got a Text from the Korean Party but Ignored It"
[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] Former Chief Prosecutor Kim Woong, the first recruited talent of the New Conservative Party, revealed on the 5th that he had been contacted by the Liberty Korea Party.
Kim appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' that day and said, "I did receive a message from someone in the Korea Party. Although it did not explicitly say 'we offer you recruitment,' it was right after I submitted my resignation, and rumors were circulating that 'he resigned to join the Korea Party,' so I ignored the message (read but did not reply) because I was worried it might be true."
He continued, "To avoid misunderstandings, I did not meet at that time, and after deciding to enter politics, there was no contact from the Korea Party," adding, "Even if there had been contact from the Korea Party, I would have chosen the New Conservative Party."
When asked why he chose the New Conservative Party, he replied, "When I talked with members like Representative Yoo Ui-dong and Representative Lee Hye-hoon from the New Conservative Party, I felt they listened carefully," and added, "Above all, I liked the idea of a 'reflective conservatism' the most."
Kim also said he wants to become a 'practical politician.' He explained, "Politics nowadays is power-oriented, with people inciting each other and deceiving the public. I want to be straightforward and comfortable, smiling in my own style, just like when I was a prosecutor," and added, "People say I lack political sense, but isn't there a need for politicians like that too?"
Regarding the term 'political prosecutor' being used by some, he emphasized, "If you call someone a political prosecutor, I think it means a prosecutor who engages in political maneuvering while serving as a prosecutor. For example, I understand that Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae ran for office right after serving as a judge, but no one called her a 'political judge' for that decision at the time."
He continued, "I acknowledge the criticism that leaving the prosecution and immediately entering politics can send a bad signal to our society," but added, "However, I want to ask people to 'watch and see'."
