Gwanak-gu Temporarily Closes Public Facilities to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus
Temporary Closure of 78 Multi-use Public Facilities Including Sports Centers, Community Halls, and Libraries... Senior Centers and Welfare Facilities for Vulnerable Groups Operate Normally but Suspend Self-run Programs
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) announced that from the 5th until the situation is resolved, all public facilities operated by the district, including educational, cultural, and sports facilities, will be temporarily closed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
A district official explained, "Although this measure is unrelated to the infection or movement routes of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, it is a precautionary step considering the domestic spread of the infection."
The temporary closure applies to a total of 78 locations: ▲ 10 sports facilities ▲ 27 community centers ▲ 37 libraries ▲ Gwanak Culture Center ▲ Gwanak Cultural Foundation ▲ Gwanak-gu Single Bungle Center ▲ Gwanak-gu Lifelong Learning Center.
While 113 senior citizen centers and 5 welfare centers will operate normally, the 96 programs they run will be temporarily suspended.
Seventeen courses of citizen informatization education held at the Citizen Hall, Seonghyeon-dong Community Center, and Miseong-dong Community Center will also be temporarily suspended.
