'Stand-up' Popular YouTuber Jaejae: "In Reality, I'm Just a Salaried PD"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Popular YouTuber Jaejae (real name Lee Eun-jae) talked about living a life between celebrities and ordinary people.
On the 4th, Jaejae, the MC of the popular YouTube channel "Civilization Express," appeared on the KBS2 variety show "Stand Up."
Jaejae is a PD and creator of "SBS News." He is expanding his recognition through the YouTube channel "Civilization Express."
That day, Jaejae introduced himself as a "Yeonbanin." Yeonbanin is an abbreviation meaning someone between an ordinary person and a celebrity. He shared experiences he had in this ambiguous position, being neither an ordinary person nor a celebrity.
Jaejae said, "As the nickname Yeonbanin suggests, I think I am a person in an ambiguous situation. My title is PD, producer. I host YouTube shows and do stand-up comedy. But my salary is that of an ordinary person. Living on an ordinary person's salary is uncomfortable," he began.
He continued, "I work on the 19th floor of the SBS building, where many entertainment and culture department employees work. There, I lost my freedom. When I came out of the restroom after using it, someone asked me to take a photo," he said.
He added, "Such ambiguous situations always followed me. One lady told me that a man was wearing lipstick. When I went to the district office to get my passport, they asked if I was exempt from military service," he said.
