A Man in His 90s Who Shouted and Assaulted Medical Staff at Hospital Arrested on the Spot by Police
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 90s who assaulted five people, including medical staff, security personnel, and responding police officers, and caused a disturbance at a hospital was apprehended by the police.
The Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul announced on the 4th that they have arrested Hwang Mo (92) on the spot on charges of assaulting medical staff and others, and are currently investigating him.
Hwang reportedly became enraged around 11:20 a.m. that day while waiting at a university hospital in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, after medical staff stopped him from taking another patient's medical questionnaire. He then shouted loudly for about 20 minutes and caused a disturbance by hitting the attending physician's face and abdomen.
He also pushed the head nurse several times who tried to stop him, kicked two security guards, and even slapped them. When police officers arrived in response to the hospital's report, he swung his fists and kicked at them as well.
The police plan to transfer Hwang to a nearby police precinct for a preliminary investigation and then send him to the police station to proceed with formal charges.
