"Memory Distorted. Apologetic and Regretful" Lee Sin-young School Violence Allegation Netizen Reverses Position
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Actor Lee Sin-young has apologized after a netizen who claimed he was a school violence perpetrator reversed their position.
On the 3rd, a post was uploaded on an online community stating, "Among the actors appearing in 'Crash Landing on You,' there is one who used to be a delinquent."
A, who revealed that they attended the same middle school as Lee Sin-young, claimed on the community, "During a break in first-year middle school class, (Lee Sin-young) kicked a classmate more than three times just because he glared at him, forced him to do XX in the bathroom, and laughed."
However, on the 4th, two documents that appear to be statements from A and B were posted on an online community.
A, a first-year middle school classmate, reversed their previous stance, saying, "It wasn't a big fight outside, but we had a little argument over the phone. And the next day at school, we had a small fistfight. That's all there is to it, and it ended well without any major issues. I have no hard feelings about this."
Another classmate, B, also said, "Upon recalling again, I don't think Sin-young was involved. I think I confused him with someone of similar height and build," adding, "Regarding the assault, I think it wasn't Sin-young who hit. It's been a long time, so I don't remember well, and it seems distorted. I feel very sorry and regretful for causing misunderstanding and harm to Sin-young with uncertain statements."
Earlier that day, Lee Sin-young's agency, Forest Entertainment, denied the allegations and indicated a strong response.
The agency explained, "Regarding the content circulating on anonymous communities, since it concerns school days, we confirmed the exact situation through family and friends as the agency."
They continued, "If there are people who were hurt by thoughtless words and actions during middle school, we apologize to everyone," adding, "We also express our apologies to the seniors and staff who are currently working hard on set despite the cold conditions for the immature behavior of those days."
