This first-ever camp was planned together by the startup commercialization support centers of the LINC+ project teams and the external cooperation department professors of the four universities, with the purpose of jointly solving the problems of the local communities to which each university belongs.
In particular, the SomeSome Project, meaning ‘adding and adding more,’ was designed to have university students from various fields such as humanities, arts, and engineering collaborate to develop ideas from new perspectives.
Sixty students from the four universities’ departments of Fine Arts, Tourism Management, 3D Animation, Design Engineering, and Film participated in this camp, which proceeded with two missions: producing promotional videos for Mokpo tourism and proposing tourism content ideas related to Yudalsan Mountain and the modern historical district.
Proposals such as the utilization plan for the cable car at Article 10, mountain slides, and an upcycling makerspace won the grand prize, while various other ideas like the web drama ‘Return to Yudaldong,’ ‘Spot in Mokpo,’ ‘Memory Recollection Center,’ and ‘Pasi Village’ were also presented.
Based on the proposed ideas, concrete implementation plans will be discussed in connection with Mokpo City’s Tourism Department and tourism companies.
Professor Choi Jeong-min, head of the External Cooperation Department, said, “This camp was designed so that participating students could directly explore and analyze the major regional cultures of Mokpo City and develop content to revitalize the Mokpo area. I am very satisfied that excellent results came out from the fusion of ideas from young people gathered from various majors and regions.”
The young participants, who formed teams across multiple universities and departments to complete the missions, shared their thoughts: “It was a tougher camp than expected, but all team members were deeply immersed. Now that the results are out, we feel proud.”
This camp operated with two core missions: producing promotional videos to introduce Mokpo and creating local revitalization content.
Lee Sang-chan, director of Mokpo National University’s LINC+ project, explained the purpose of this camp, saying, “The SomeSome Project pursued convergence in every aspect. We tried to solve local community problems by integrating the region, departments, industry-academia, and various professional fields. We are grateful to Mokpo City Hall and Mokpo MBC for actively supporting this initiative in agreement with its purpose.”
