Gwangju Seo-gu, Full Effort to Support Vulnerable Groups for a Healthy Winter
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 4th that it will provide health management services to help residents have a healthy winter season.
This project aims to prepare local residents registered in the home health care program for safety accidents during severe cold weather, cold waves, and the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus infection.
The Visiting Health Team at Sangmu Kumho Health Living Support Center has been providing health management services for winter safety since last month through ▲home visits ▲phone management ▲text message management to promote the health of local residents.
This service is an intensive health management service provided only in winter to maintain health during severe cold periods for households registered in the home health care program, but health management for infectious disease prevention will be provided until the novel coronavirus is eradicated.
During home visits, visiting nurses directly visit homes to educate on health management against winter cold waves, heavy snow, fine dust, and personal hygiene rules for infectious disease prevention, and check basic health indicators such as blood pressure and blood sugar to assess the health status of the subjects.
For chronic disease patients under intensive management among the visit targets, their well-being is checked via phone calls, and safety text messages are sent during heavy snow and cold wave warnings.
In particular, to prepare for coronavirus infection, safety text messages with the seven major infectious disease prevention rules are sent regularly.
A Seo-gu official said, “We believe that through this health management service, local residents will be able to spend the winter season, when safety accidents frequently occur, in good health,” and added, “We will expand the program so that more residents can receive home health care services and do our best to prevent infectious diseases.”
