50-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison for Illegally Filming Neighbor Woman Showering
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] A man in his 50s was sentenced to a heavy prison term for illegally filming a neighbor woman showering with his mobile phone.
On the 4th, the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 3 (Presiding Judge Hwang Young-hee) announced that A (50), who was indicted for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, etc. (filming using a camera, etc.), was sentenced to one year in prison.
The court also ordered A to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and imposed a three-year employment restriction at institutions related to children and adolescents and welfare facilities for the disabled.
The court stated the reason for sentencing, saying, "The nature of the crime is very bad, and the victim is pleading for a severe punishment for A."
A was prosecuted for illegally filming B, a woman in her 40s living on the first floor of a multi-family house in Gwangju, showering through the bathroom window outside B's house at around 10:15 p.m. on June 3 last year.
